NIEPA DG, Professor Salami Wins Public Sector Achiever Award

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Professor Lilian Imuetinyan Salami has won the 7th Ondo State Woman of the Year Award in Public Sector.

Professor Salami was decorated with the honor by the wife of the Ooni of Ife and Yeyeluwa Oodua, Olori Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi at an elaborate ceremony which took place at the Dome Conference and Event Centre on Sunday 19th May, 2019 in Akure, Ondo State.

In an event organized by Hero Magazine International in honor of selected Female Role Models in Ondo state who through hard work and tenacity of purpose have carved a niche for themselves, Publisher of the Magazine, Dr. Sunday Akinbiola said, the award is in recognition of their outstanding contributions to public and private accountability and community development. According to him, “these women have excelled in their various fields of endeavor thereby making them worthy ambassadors of the state and Nigeria.”

He listed other women who have bagged Ondo State Female Role Model Award to include former first lady of Ondo state, Mrs. Kemi Mimiko, First female speaker of Ondo state house of Assembly, Mrs. Jumoke Akindele, Justice Folashade Aguda Taiwo, President, Ondo state customary Court of Appeal, Dr. Adeola Olubamiji, the first Ondo state female to bag a PhD in Bio-Chemical Engineering Technology and first African woman to be honored by the Canadian Government for her outstanding achievement in Education, and Pilot Olamide Akinfolarin, a lawyer and the first Ondo state female pilot, and a host of other women to have received this outstanding female Role Model awards as prides of Ondo state.

Other Awardees in this year’s edition include: Member Elect Ondo State House of Assembly Ilaje Constituency II, Hon Mrs. Tomomewo Favour, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Governmental Affairs Dr. Mrs Kemi Ademosu, Mrs. Folasade Arise, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor to the Governor on Disability and other women of note.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion include Governor of Ondo State, Arakurin Rotimi Akeredolu represented by his Commissioner for Youth and Sports Hon. Saka Yusuf, Chairman of the occasion, Aare Atunluse of Owo Kingdom Chief Rotimi Ibidapo represented by former Chairman Irele LGA Hon. Nicholas Akinbola, Elemo of Akure Kingdom High Chief Adedipe, Chairman Irele LGA, Hon. Otito Atikase and Management staff of National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo.

Speaking on behalf of all the awardees, Director General of National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Professor Lilian Salami commended the strides of Ondo State first lady, Arabirin Betty Akeredolu in the development of women across the state. She also thanked the organizers for the award which according to her has placed on the awardees “higher responsibilities”. In her remarks, she hoped for a forum in a few years’ time, which will bring the awardees together to see how much they have grown in their respective endeavors.
