Federal Poly Ile-Oluji Awards 291 National Diploma At Maiden Convocation

No fewer than two hundred and ninety one students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji {FEDPOLEL} on Thursday received their National Diploma in various fields of study as the institution held its first convocation ceremony.

The historic event had in attendance the academic board, principal officers, the governing council of the polytechnic, top government functionaries, high powered delegation of both the state and the federal government, royal fathers among others.

Addressing the gathering, the Rector, Prof. Emmanuel Fasakin traced the history of the institution saying in less than five years of its existence, FEDPOLEL has witnessed glaring progress and transformation in all facets.

Prof. Fasakin who also acknowledged that the institution has also been accredited to embark on 7 new programs observed that there are landmark improvement also in its physical infrastructures saying not much would have been achieved without the support of other staffs.

While urging them students not to join the bandwagon, Prof. Fasakin restated that they have been equipped to play audacious roles in the new world order.

The Hon. Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba in his address decried the general apathy towards technical education in Nigeria saying it is detrimental to manpower needs of emerging industries.

According to him, nations of the world have come to realize the importance of technical and vocational education in strengthening economies and building formidable industries and as such Nigeria must borrow a leaf from that.

He also used the opportunity to commend Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the people of Ile-Oluji for continually being partners in progress to the polytechnic.

The event also witnessed the commissioning of legacy projects which include the Administrative building, the ceremonial gate house, the Engineering building, the twin auditoria, ceremonial road to the polytechnic, the ICT building among others.

The climax however was the presentation of prizes to outstanding students of the institutions.

Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the governing council, Mr. Odey Ochicha applauded Ondo State government for being a great source of strength to the polytechnic while also congratulating the graduating students.
