R-L: Daramola, Oresegun, An EFCC Official at the court earlier in the year
The Federal Government has suspended the Vice Chancellor of the
Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Adebiyi Daramola and the University’s Bursar, Emmanuel Oresegun.
SUNSHINE HERALD had earlier reported that the Registrar, Dr. Mrs
Modupe Ajayi was suspended with the VC in the letter signed by the
Minister for Education, Adamu Adamu.
Findings by us however have it that it was indeed the Bursar that was
suspended and the VC. According to sources within the University, the
letter which came in from the Minister was addressed to the Registrar in
error.
The source who claimed anonymity because he was not authorised to
speak to the press said: “When the letter came in, it was addressed to
The Registrar, Mr Emmanuel Oresegun. When the Registrar however noticed
the error, she called attention to it and a new letter was printed.
“Information had however already gone out that the Registrar was suspended with the VC before the correction was made.”
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) had dragged Prof. Adebiyi and Mr Oresegun before an Akure High
Court over allegations of fraud to the tune of N24 million.
