She said the state’s first lady is passionate about women empowerment, education of the girl child as well as women’s wellbeing. She noted that as the founder of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN, a Non governmental, non religious and non profitable Organization, Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu is concerned about breast cancer awareness, advocacy and support, hence she always stressed the need for early detection as key in surviving breast cancer, adding that the women should prioritise their wellbeing.

Earlier, the guest lecturer and a principal lecturer from Department of Islamic Studies, College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, Dr Wosilat Adigun in a lecture titled, “Muslim Woman: Soft As Silk, But Strong As Iron” highlighted some of the qualities of a muslim woman to include obedience to the husband, not associating partners with Allah and raising children that would be of good behaviour.
Dr Wosilat Adigun
“Part of associating partners with Allah is for you to visit fortunetellers and be too much engrossed in worldly affairs that you join secret societies in order to get fame”, Adigun said.
Ondo Zone Women’s Affairs Secretary, Dr Faozat Aragbaye in her welcome address appealed to the women to sustain their role in the society both as mothers and good citizens of the country.
Dr Faozat Aragbaye
“Women of today are hardworking but we must not relent in our efforts to remould our society and bring back values which the society had lost to corruption,” Aragbaye advised.
In her keynote address, the National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Samiat Mumuni emphasised the need for the women not to be distracted with worldly materials, but be steadfast in the religion of Islam.
Alhaja Samiat Mumuni
“Let me emphasise this without mincing words that in Islam, there is nothing like men and women are equal, Islam only recognizes equity and not equality,” Mumuni said.
Also speaking, Chairman, NASFAT Ondo Zone, Alhaji Fatai Amodu urged the women to be the prayer dynamite and a strong spiritual armour that protects the family.
Alhaji Fatai Amodu
“The United Nations dedicated a special day 8th of March every year for women “International Women’s Day” while Allah (SWT) dedicated a whole chapter of the glorious Quran to women, Surat Nissa, Quran chapter 4. This underscores the importance of women even to our creator,” Amodu noted.

Alhaja Khaleelat Fawehinmi
