FRSC Sensitizes NURTW Members On Safety Measures As Sallah, Ember Months Beckon | The Precision

– As PCC laud the
initiative and enjoy NURTW members to report unprofessional government officers
to the Commission.

The Federal Road
Safety Corp (FRSC), Ore Unit Command, as part of their mandate to sensitive road
users on safety measures and reduce road crashes, engaged executives and
members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Ore Zone at the Ondo Motor Park, Ore.

With the Sallah break
in view and marking the beginning of EMBER months, the Corp admonished the
drivers to reduce their speed, make sure they have their drivers’ licenses and
enjoyed them to make necessarily checks on their vehicles before embarking on
any journey.
The Unit Commander,
DCC Ozonnadu appreciated everyone who honoured the
invitation of the FRSC. He highlighted that one of the functions of the FRSC is
playing to ensure all road users get to their destination safely. 

In his words,
“the FRSC have zero tolerance to traffic crashes. As such, he advised the
drivers to always ensure their vehicles are in good condition at all
time”. 

Likewise the Ondo
State Sector Commander, CC Vincent Jack enjoined them not to throw caution to
the winds while trying to make extra money. He spoke extensively on the
consequences of driving dangerously on the highway. 

He told the drivers to
abide by all rules and regulations of the highway. 

“All motorists must have
their drivers’ license intact. The tyres must be in good condition and not
expired.”

He berated those who continued to purchase “Tokunbo Tyres” despite the
dangers it poses.

The Public Complaints
Commission, who have being a front runner for a gathering like this due to
array of complaints by the public on the recklessness of road users in Odigbo
Local Government lauded the FRSC for the needed intervention. 

The Assistant
Director of Investigation, Mr S. K. Idhiarhi who represented the Ondo State
PCC Commissioner, Oladunni Odu, intimated the gathering on the functions
of PCC and enlightened the people on how they can gain immensely for the
dispute resolution service offered at the Commission at no cost. 

PCC Ore Area Officer, Bolaji
Daramola, also buttressed the points made by Mr Idhiarhi.
He advised the drivers to avoid indulging in alcohol whenever they are driving,
avoid speeding excessively on the highway and implored them to report
government officers on duty who are unprofessional to the Commission.

The NURTW zonal
chairman appreciated the FRSC and all other agencies that collaborated to bring
the sensitization to them. He promised to relay all the messages passed to all
drivers in the zone. 

He assured the FRSC that members of his union will always
abide by road regulations. He also pleaded for more time to be given for NURTW
members to buy speed limiters for their vehicles.

Other government
agencies ably represented at the event are – The Nigeria Police Force, Department
of State Security Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp.
