The Director-General, Bureau of Public
Service Reforms (BPSR), Dr. Joe Abah has lauded the Federal Government
for the opportunity accorded him to contribute his quota to the service
of the Fatherland as he bowed out of office today after servicing
meritoriously for four years.

While handing over the baton of
leadership to the Director, Corporate Services, Mr. Dasuki Arabi in a
valedictory meeting at the Bureau, Dr. Abah said that he is happy
because he had achieved what he set out to do which is to demonstrate
that change and improvement is possible in Nigeria as evidenced in
improved service delivery in obtaining Drivers Licence, Tax Clearance
Certificate and other sundry services.
While bringing the staff up to speed
with events undertaken by the Bureau, the DG praised the staff for their
dedication, selflessness and professionalism and enjoined them to
ensure that the work of the Bureau progresses in his absence otherwise
he would have achieved nothing.
Furthermore, he charged them to remain
focused on the job and to extend the encouragement and challenge they
gave him which made him a better manager to the Ag. DG, Mr. Arabi.
The DG who said he was stepping aside on
his on terms, expressed gratitude to all BPSR Stakeholders among whom
are but not limited to the European Union, the World Bank, the Macarthur
Foundation and the Press for their support of governance reforms in
Nigeria.
Responding after the goodwill messages
by the staff, the Ag. DG, Mr. Arabi commended the out-going DG for his
exemplary leadership and dedication urging him to remain accessible as
his wealth of experience will remain invaluable to the Bureau.
On behalf of the Staff, the Ag. DG
conferred on Dr. Abah the chieftaincy title of “Waziri BPSR” meaning the
“custodian of knowledge”. He was then adorned with a blue flowing gown
complete with head gear as symbol of office.
