Ondo Health Commissioner, Adegbenro Seeks Effective Collaboration With WHO | The Precision

The Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, has sought effective and result oriented collaboration with the World Health Organization.

 

A statement from the press officer, Ondo State Ministry of Health, Abooluwa Famakinwa noted that the commissioner while receiving the State Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr. Akinola Fatiregun and his team who paid him a courtesy visit in his office, said the economic recession is adversely affecting a lot of people to the extent that they cannot afford to seek quality health care when the need arise, and this is where the United Nations will be needed to lend a helping hand to help the people. 
In his words, “People should not be allowed to die because they don’t have money, hence the need to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to provide quality and affordable health care services for the people. 
Dr Adegbenro promised to collaborate with the WHO to have a robust health plan for the State as the State Government places much value on the health and life of the people. 
The WHO State Representative, Dr Akinola Fatiregun congratulated the commissioner on his appointment while enumerating some areas of intervention by the WHO in the Ondo health sector. 
He said WHO has assisted Ondo health sector at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. 
Dr Fatiregun who pleaded with the commissioner to give them all the necessary support to help them successfully operate in the state, said the WHO is currently giving all the necessary assistance and surveillance in the fight against Lassa fever. 
He promised that the WHO who has been at the fore front in health care delivery in the world, will not relent in its effort in making quality health care delivery a right rather than a privilege.
