Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has re-echoed the pride of Ondo State as the  most peaceful state among the nine states that makes up the Niger Delta Region in Nigeria, adding that sustaining peaceful environment is paramount to the state government

 

Speaking at a dinner organised by the state government to marked the end of a Seven day Summit of 2nd National  Council On Niger Delta hosted in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who was represented by his Deputy, Honourable Agboola Ajayi stated that “Ondo State in last one week you have witnessed how peaceful we are in the State.
Our pride as the most peaceful state in the entire Niger-Delta region is not for fun, it is earned and we cherish it so much”. He said.
“That is why as a state, we have resolved to embark on only those projects that will rekindle hope of the Niger-Delta and reconnect them with the government. Our consolation alao lies in the ability of the government to identity and proffer solutions to the yearning of the people”. He noted.
Akeredolu also stressed that the state government in its quest to ensure sustaining peaceful environment in the riverine areas of the state, the government has engaged traditional institutions in the area to ensure peace reign their communities.
The Governor advised that  various papers presented at the summit should be transparent in the course of implementation of the policy drafting of the summit, saying it was the surest way to assuage the feeling of the people of the Niger-Delta whose livelihood has contented with avoidable neglect and injustice.
He therefore promised to give the Council the needed support  to achieved it’s mandate of rapid development of the oil producing areas in the country.
The Governor also used the occasion to debunk rumour that some delegates had accident while travelling to Igbokoda to attend Town Hall Meeting with the Vice President, saying no delegate died in accident in the state and prayed that all delegates and staff will returne to their various destinations safely.
He thanked the Local Organising Committee for a job well-done for success recorded throughout the duration of the programme.
Six drivers who took part in conveying delegates during the event were honoured at the event for professionalism displayed in the course of discharging their duties.
