Akeredolu To Ondo Youth: Embrace Coding Skills To Guarantee Your Future | The Precision

Governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has urged the youth to embrace Computer coding to become key actors in the 21st century digital market.                   
Declaring open 2017 Africa Code Week at Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School Akure, Arakunrin Akeredolu explained that with relevant skills in Computer coding, youth will be better positioned to develop different applications and software that can automate government processes for efficient service delivery.                       
Represented by his Senior Special Adviser on ICT Mr. Olumbe Akinkugbe, the governor assured the youth of his support not only to to acquire the skills but to take coding as career.            
He therefore reiterated his commitment to repositioning the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) to an enviable heights and become the focal point for ICT driven administration so that the state can capture her fair share of the global digital wealth       
Welcoming participants, Secretary of the Agency, Mr. Olufemi Aladenola said the mission of the African Code week is to empower the future generations with coding knowledge that will enable them become key players in the 21st century digital space.   
                 
According to Aladenola, SITA is partnering the Federal University of Technology  Akure (FUTA), and an IT giant “Tech Up” to establish an Information Technology Hub (Tech Hub) in each of the three senatorial district of the state .         
The ‘Tech Hub’ as he put it “is to provide an enabling environment for different categories of youth and ICT enthusiasts to have unhindered access to information and technology” Aladenola said.                 
No fewer than one hundred and fifty students from eleven secondary schools across the state took part in this year’s code week while seven of them made both oral & practical presentations at the technical session.
