Ondo HOS Warns New Permanent Secretaries Against Corruption | The Precision

The Ondo State Head of Service, Mr Toyin Akinkuotu esq, has charged the newly appointed 14 permanent secretaries by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, the Ondo State Governor to shun corruption tendencies and to offer sound, impartial and technical advice to their Commissioners and Political heads in their various MDAs.

 

Akinkuotu, the Ondo state Head of Service gave the charge during an interview in his office after the Mr. Governor approved the appointment. He said Permanent secretary is a top post in the administrative hierarchy in the Civil service saying your appointment confers on you grave responsibilities to our fatherland; our citizens are expectant and they must deliver.
The number one civil servant in the State said, holders of these positions are expected to be highly experienced technocrats, who are able to deliver sound, impartial, high-level quality, technical advice to their political heads.
He further reiterated that, this means they must continually build their technical capacity to match or even exceed their commissioners.
Mr. Toyin Akinkuotu esq., explained that permanent secretaries were entrusted with the public purse and as accounting officers. Their responsibilities were for life because they could be called upon anytime in their lives to account for their time in office.
This, he said, was the reason they must shun acts of corruption and ensure strict compliance with the rules in the management of resources.
The Ondo state Head of Service, said the body language of Mr. Governor to this regard is clear to everyone; anyone found wanting should not expect any protection.
 According to him, it is necessary for the newly appointed permanent secretaries to strive so as to match the pace at which the political class wants to develop our dear Sunshine State if they must remains relevant.
Mr. Akinkuotu esq., therefore charged them to be ICT compliant and be abreast of latest developments in the face of the growing demand for transparency an accountability from public office holders.
The HOS, however, advised the new permanent secretaries against being competition with their commissioners, saying doing so would be unnecessary and could be suicidal. He reminded the permanent secretaries that the state Government is very serious about its Change ideology and advised them to key in to it.
Consequently, Akinkuotu tasked the newly appointed permanent secretaries to prove themselves as a true agent of development as expected of them by the state government to enable them deliver on their mandate.
He called on the permanent secretaries to energize and support their agencies, parastatals and commissions in a manner that would enable them deliver governments priority designed for the benefit of the people. 
Saying “they are indeed the barometer for measuring the success and impact of government policies and programs on the public.
