Creative and talented youth in website designs and ICT micro businesses have been reassured of government support to fulfill their lifetime dreams.

 

Wife of the Ondo state Governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu gave the assurance while presenting gifts to winners of Tech-preneurship competition organized by Akure TechHub, Federal University of Technology, Akure.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Akeredolu encouraged them to key into ICT especially Akure TechHub because of its immense socio-economic and financial benefits.
According to her, ICT has today become the fastest and cheapest means to communicate with large, diverse and heterogeneous society which young entrepreneurs cannot afford to ignore.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT and coordinator of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) Mr. Olumbe Akinkugbe said the TechHub was part of collaborative effort by the present administration to promote intellectualism, creativity and hardworking.
The Hub according to him the TechHub was primarily designed for technologically inclined young minds to conceptualize ideas, invent and nurture their projects to maturity.
While appealing to  youth to take advantage of the state of the earth ICT facilities at the centre to better their lots, Akinkugbe explained that plans have been perfected to replicate the Hub in the Northern and Southern districts of the state. 
Also addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure Prof. Adeola Fuwape said FUTA will continue to give quality and functional education that will enable young entrepreneurs to become job creators instead of job seekers.
As he put it, “no nation can become self sufficient without robust and sustainable technology “.
In their goodwill messages, Chief Executive Officers of Oracle, Siemens, Instrat and Microsoft pledged unalloyed support for the survival of the Hub.
The Akure TechHub is jointly owned by the Ondo state government, FUTA and a private technology giant TechUp.
