No Room For Fake Drug Dealers In Ondo – Adegbenro | The Precision

Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro has said that the state government led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) would not rest on it oars until the state is rid of fake drugs. 

 

According to him, the need to eradicate this menace in non-negotiable in order to allow qualitative healthcare services being provided by the government to thrive. 
The Commissioner gave the hint while being briefed by the Ondo State Task force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs in Akure after an outing.
The Task force in its routine raid had  confisticated some Adulterated and Fake Drugs from some Patent Medicine stores in Akure,  the state capital. 
In this routine monitoring ,the Task force sealed off some Patent Medicine stores in possession of unregistered drugs without NAFDAC numbers and Control Drugs that are meant to be dispensed only by pharmacists.
Dr. Adegbenro who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Dr. Dipo Durojaye also affirmed that government, after making arrests, would also embark on making public the identities and locations of Patents Medicine Stores involved in such crimes and hand them over to be prosecuted. 
The Commissioner who also revealed that efforts are being intensified towards increasing public awareness on Fake Drugs , advised Ondo State residents to desist from  patronising Counterfeit Drugs Dealers, noting that Fake drugs are  injurious to the health and damages they cause may be irreversible.
Dr. Adegbenro commended the Task force for it doggedness and commitment to achieving it’s mandate. 
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ondo State Task Force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs , Mr. Gbenga Lasekan reiterated that with the support of the government the task force has recorded  tremendous achievements in pursuit of its mandate.
He said, the Task force will not rest on its oars until the state is rid of Counterfeit and Fake Drugs.
