Breaking News: CCT Set To Commence Trial Of CJN Onnoghen Over False Asset Declaration

The code of conduct tribunal CCT is set to commence the trial of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen over his refusal to declare his assets in line with the code of conduct bureau guidelines for public office holders, The Precision has learnt.

At 8:15 am on Monday,the court had been opened while cleaning up was done immediately, an indication that the court had been used for a while.

Sumner Sambo, TVC correspondent on ground tweeted, “ALL SET: CCT courtroom set for the appearance of all the parties in the case between the Nigerian government and its chief justice, Walter Onnoghen over non-assets declaration charges filed against him by the AGF.”

Also in the courtroom are the CJN defense team led by Chief Wole Olanipekun.

“Policemen at the entrance of CCT courtroom to keep the peace as Senior lawyers like Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Chris Uche(SAN), Awomolo Adegboyega (SAN) to defend Justice Walter Onnoghen at the tribunal. They held some meetings before entering the court” Sambo tweeted.
