Osemawe Visits UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Calls For Community Driven Health

The Chief Medical Director of University Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex (UNIMEDTHC), Dr. Oluwole Ige has described the visit of the Imperial Majesty of Ondo kingdom Oba Dr. Victor Kiladejo Osemawe of Ondo as expedient one to see the levels of infrastructures development in the hospital.

He said it is also an opportunity to interface with leaders of the kingdom in such way that vital information would be pass across to the people on the restructuring of Teaching hospital complex.

Dr. Ige stated that the present administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) is doing excellently well to improve the standard of health care service in the state compare to what is used to be in the past through the establishment of Teaching hospitals at an affordable, qualitative and accessible to the people.

He reiterated on the quality of health care services being rendered at the UNIMEDTHC, saying it is similar to what is obtainable in overseas at affordable and accessible rate.

The Osemawe of Ondo kingdom came along with his two High Chiefs, the Lisa of Ondo Chief Simeon Oguntimehin and Sasere of the Kingdom Chief Adeduro to UNIMEDTHC.

Oba Victor Kiladejo expressed his delight on the ongoing construction and reconstructions in the hospitals complex.

He scored the Governor of the state high for establishing the teaching hospital in the state at this very time for the benefit of the people.

In his opinion, the king advised the management of the Teaching hospital to avoid duplication of service in Ondo and Laje complex, he said they should rather overlap to complement one and another in a seamless way using ICT, adding that they should avoid developing one complex better than the other.

Osemawe implored the Teaching hospital to avoid human factors to affect how they will be transferring patients from Ondo complex to Laje medical village.

He urged that necessary gadgets should be on standby for any transfer of patient and a signal should be on to inform the other complex about the cases of emergency.

Oba Dr. Kiladejo promised that a committee on hospital and the community would be setup to relate with Teaching hospital for effective service delivery and areas where the community can equally partner with them to develop the growing tertiary health service for the people.

He said the kingdom is already working on the committee saying that in the next two weeks they will inaugurate it.

Dr. Oluwole Ige said that UNIMEDTHC health coverage is for everyone, everywhere, and at every moment without financial hardship.
