It was a day of excitement as Muslim faithful who prayed at the central Eid prayer ground along Oda road in Akure, the Ondo State capital had a filled day with the Imam of Akure empire, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Akorede.

News had filtered in two days to the day of Eid that the Imam would be slaughtering a Camel for this year’s celebration, a development that is strange to the faithful because the Imam and many Imams across the city have always slaughtered Ram on the occasion.

Hence, so many people thronged the Eid ground as early as possible to catch a glimpse of the wonderful creature. Some of them had selfies with the animal to serve as archival evidence.

Findings by The Precision NG revealed that the creature is such a wonderful animal that have been specially and purposely created for the dessert.

Camels could drink the water that would be useful for them for three months within 30 minutes.

Also, no one can single-handedly kill the animal and cannot be slaughtered like other creature but it would rather recline and submit self knowing fully well she’s about to be Killed.

After the Imam had observe every protocol about the day. From praying two Rakats of prayer to giving the sermon and admonishing rhe leaders on poverty eradication, the stage was set for the climax of the day – the killing of the Camel.

The faithful crowded the Camel making it difficult for everyone to see it. People were seen pushing each other just to feel the pulse. For over an hour, people waited patiently just to witness the killing.

The specialists who killed the Camel then arrived and set into action immediately. They tied it legs and the long neck before stabbing it continuously till it died.

The Imam during the slaughtering was accompanied by the Deji of Akure Kingdom, HRM Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo and the Mufassir, Alhaji Moshood Keuyemi among a host of others.

The dead Camel was then transported to the Akure central mosque where it was processed.

In Islam, the Ram is not the only animal that can be killed for the festival.

Below are some pictures from the day as captured by The Precision NG.
