…Thanked him for averting epidemic of cows killed at Oke Owa

Over two million naira has been disbursed to support brilliant and indigent students of Ijare origin in tertiary institutions across the country as well as artisans and petty traders in the town.

The National President of Ijare Egbe Omo Elewe Obi, Akin Oluwole disclosed this at this years’ Ijare day celebration held at Anglican Grammar school, Ijare at the weekend.

He specifically mentioned the names of individuals such as Major General J.A. Omoseebi RTD; Ijare Committee of Friends; Mrs Bolatito Awosiyan; Dr Bolu Adegboyegun; and Mrs Ropo Olaofe.

“These awards to be given as part of the 2019 Ijare day celebration, are among the many other bursaries and scholarships instituted by individuals and families in Ijare, to help brilliant but indigent Ijare indigenes in higher institutions of learning,” he said.

According to him, Dr Adeola Olubamiji and himself are also supporting artisans and traders with equipment and cash support.

“Some of the flagship projects and intentions before the community are: building of a new king palace (ongoing), the resurfacing and re-calibration of the health centre, construction of township road, surgical interventions, revamping of the public and secondary schools among others.

“Individuals and donors have nothing to fear as each donation would be channeled appropriately for its use.

“We equally appreciated every individual and group who heeded our call in the past most especially all that supported the construction of drainage and asphalts of roads within Ijare community,” he said.

Mr Oluwole also used the occasion to thank the Governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for his various interventions in the town.

“Do note, our dear Arakunrin and friends of Ijare, that we shall not take your identification with us for granted.

“We acknowledge the recent elevation of our daughter Justice Eunice Alade to the position of the President of Ondo state Customary Court of Appeal.

“The recognition and approval of Bethel College of Education as an extension of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, by our dear Arakunrin is a catalyst for educational and economic development, for which we are sincerely grateful.

“It is also worthy of note the promptness and very technically skillful manner the Governor handled the humanitarian crisis that would have been precipitated by the cows killed by thunder at Oke Owa.

He added that the community appreciated the manner in which the government dispatched health workers to fumigate the dead cows to prevent epidemic in the community.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the chairman Ifedore council area, Alex Oladimeji noted that Ijare has been lucky to have a Governor that prioritise the needs of the people, adding that the various interventions have been geared towards the development of that state.

He added that the ongoing road construction from Orita Obele to Oke Odu will soon reach Ijare as the Governor won’t relent until every every community benefit road revolution.

“You hear what the representative of Mr Governor said to the request from the Olujare-in-Council that the road construction would reach Ijare.

“It is just a matter of time and I want us to all be patient with this government,” he added.

The event featured cultural display, students match pass, Apoporo Dance step, and institution of Ijare Hall of Fame.
