INEC To Decide Modalities For Edo & Ondo Elections In One Week

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says it will release fresh modalities for the conduct of the Edo and Ondo governorship election despite the Coronavirus threat in the next one week.

INEC added that it will liaise with health authorities and security agencies on resumption of activities in the two states ahead of the elections scheduled for September 19 and October 10.

Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, said the Commission will resume engagement with political parties, Civil Society Groups and Organizations, the media and other stakeholders in relation to the Edo and Ondo Governorship elections.

“Modalities for these engagements will be worked out and considered at its next meeting on May 14, 2020”.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) met on Thursday 7th May 2020 and deliberated on the step by step protocol for the resumption of activities and operations as well as preparations for the conduct of the Edo and Ondo Governorship elections and other pending Senatorial and State Assembly bye elections”, the statement read.
