Al-Sunnah Masjid, one of the mosques in Ondo state has distributed food items to Muslim residents in Akure, the state capital.

The Imam and general coordinator of Al-Sunnah Masjid, Ustaz Dawood Olubode, in a chat with The Precision NG in Akure said the gesture is to relief the fasting faithfuls amid lockdown.

“We did this as a part of a relief package for our brothers and sisters who have been fasting during the month of Ramadan and unfortunately the period met them on lockdown.

“We pray that Allah help us and take away from us the pandemic in Ondo state, Nigeria and the world at large”, he prayed.

Imam Olubode said the mosque palliative support to the vulnerable is taking off this year with 50 persons due to the restriction on public gathering by the government.

“We did it for just 50 people this year in compliance with the government directive by putting in place measures for social distancing, using face-masks, washing of hands with the application of hand sanitizer.

“Each beneficiary go home with 2 Congo of rice, 2 Congo of beans, 2 Congo of cassava grain (Gari), 2kg of Cornflour, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 2 boxes of matches and frozen fish all packed inside a useful plastic”, he said.
