The management of Adekunle Ajasin Akungba Akoko (AAUA) has debunked the rumour that the wife of the Ondo state governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu got a contract to the sum of N400 million naira from the university.

The university was reacting to a viral video on social media where Mrs Akeredolu was alleged to have gotten such huge contract from the school by one Jimmy Adekanle who is based in Canada.

The Precision NG recalled that the duo of Mrs Akeredolu and Adekanle have been at each others throat recently as they fought dirty on Facebook.

Mrs Akeredolu alleged him of being a rapist and a mortuary attendant.

Adekanle through his lawyer had written Mrs Akeredolu to withdraw the statement or be dragged to the court.

Since then Adekanle has been producing videos on the social media alleging Mrs Akeredolu of using state funds to finance her personal project.

The latest of such allegation from Mr Adekanle is the alleged N400m from AAUA.

Victor Akinpelumi, Head (Information, Protocol & Public Relations) of the University however debunked such claim, adding that the university has never given out any contract in the sum of N400 million since 2015.

Below is the press statement from the university:

Re: 400 Million Naira Project in AAUA

The attention of the Management of Adekunle Ajasin Univeristy, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, has been drawn to an online video, authored by one Jimi Adekanle, claiming that the wife of the Ondo State Governor, Her Excellency Arabinrin Betty Akeredolu, was awarded a 400 million naira worth of contract of a Student Hostel in the University.

The University Management hereby wishes to inform the general public and the friends of the University that the contents of the video vis-à-vis the said contract and Adekunle Ajasin University were incorrect and completely unfounded and should be disregarded.

For the avoidance of doubt and the sake of emphasis, the said hostel project, was a Federal Government intervention in the Univeristy and was not awarded to the First Lady of Ondo State, and from the available records, the University had not, since 2015 till date, awarded any project nearing the sum quoted in the video.

Once again, the University is urging the general public to treat the contents of the video regarding the University and the project as false.

Rest assured that the University Management will unequivocally continue to uphold the rules and regulations governing the award and execution of projects in the University.

Thank you.
