Impeachment: You Have Not Done Your Homework – Justice Akeredolu Replies Ondo Assembly

The Chief Judge (CJ) of Ondo State, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu says the state House of Assembly has not done its work to warrant her office to set up a probe panel to investigate the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.

The Bamidele Oleyelogun-led House of Assembly is investigating Agboola over allegations of gross misconduct.

The letter written by the CJ and obtained by The Precision NG indicated that the House didn’t follow the constitutional process required to impeach Agboola.

The Speaker, Oleyelogun had on Thursday written to the CJ to set up a seven-man panel to investigate Ajayi with a view to impeach him from office.

14 members of the assembly had signed an impeachment notice against the deputy governor, itemizing seven allegations against him.

However, Nine members of the Assembly had written to the Speaker distancing themselves from the impeachment.

Justice Akeredolu in the letter said she had also received a letter from Ajayi’s lawyers stating that the process of the impeachment was sub judice.
