The panel set up by the Ondo State Government to look into the level of damage caused to both public and private properties during the EndSars Protest with a view to compensating the victims, had visited the Ondo State PDP Secretariat today.

The panel led by its Chairman, Hon. Justice Salisu Adesola Sidiq (Rtd) was received by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Fatai Adams and other members of the Party’s State Working Committee. Justice Sidiq said the panel was at the Secretariat in order to have a first-hand information on the level of damage caused to the Secretariat.

He said the panel members cannot sit at the comfort of their offices and be guessing the level of destruction done to any property whether public or private and so they came on a fact-finding mission.

Although the Party Secretariat is now being reconstructed by a chieftain of the party, the State Chairman, Hon Fatai Adams thanked the panel for the visit, saying the visit was indeed a big relief. He thereafter conducted them round the Secretariat and showed them the carcasses of the Party’s 30-seater coaster bus and a Sienna bus belonging to a member of the party. The chairman also showed the panel members, pictures of the Secretariat burnt by the hoodlums and the debris of the demolished building.

Adams said the destruction of the party Secretariat was a devasting one and wondered why the arsonists could unleash such level of destruction on the Secretariat without any provocation from the party.

“We got to this place devastated and wondered why the Secretariat could have been burnt in such a cruel manner without any provocation from the party. The whole place was in flames, and we have to completely demolish the building to avoid further risk to the people” he said.

“Our 30-seater coaster bus and a Sienna bus belonging to one of our esteemed members were burnt beyond scrap value as you can see by yourselves here. A car belonging to our police security was badly damaged. Wares kept at the Secretariat by party employees were packed outside the gate and burnt. It was a devasting moment.” The chairman recounted.

“I thank you very sincerely for the visit and I can tell you that we are relieved by the visit. The reconstruction of the Secretariat is being handled by a chieftain of the party. But the damage was too much and we are hopeful that the government will surely come to our aid at the end of your panel’s investigation”. The chairman concluded.
