The Ondo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Fatai Adams has led leaders of the party to pay solidarity visit to the party’s gubernatorial candidate at the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede SAN over the Election Petition Tribunal’s judgement of Tuesday 20th April, 2021.

The Tribunal in its judgement had, for lack of jurisdiction, washed off its hand on the matter brought before it by the party and its candidate against the wrongful and defective presentation of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu SAN by the APC Chairman Mai Mala Buni who is also the incumbent governor of Yobe State, saying that the power to interpret constitutional matters of that nature lies squarely on the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Fatai Adams while presenting a letter of solidarity to the party’s candidate, told him not to think that he was alone on this project maintaining that the party is solidly behind him.

“Your Excellency, we have come to let you know that the party is with you on this project. When you look at your back, you will find the party behind you. You can always count on our support and solidarity as you soldier on, even as we remain confident that the final outcome of the matter will be rewarding and exciting,” he said.

Adams also used the occasion to thank Mr Jegede for his constant support to the Muslim community, assuring him that he is being remembered in prayers especially during this Ramadan period.

Speaking at the solidarity visit, former State Chairman of the party, Hon. Clement Faboyede, said the route to election victory was not new to him, having passed through such, on a number of occasions.

Faboyede who is now the National Ex-Officio of the party further said, “Your Excellency sir, this route is no longer new to me. We passed through same tumultuous route during the time of Dr. Mimiko and we arrived safely at the end of the day. I have no doubt in my mind that this one, no matter how tortuous, will surely lead us to a safe haven. The South West Executive committee of this party is completely with you sir. The State Executive Committee ably led by Hon Fatai Adams is with you, all the leaders as you can see are solidly behind you. We shall surely be victorious.”

The party’s flagbearer Mr. Eyitayo Jegede could not hide his joy over the visit saying it has further encouraged him to march on.

“I want to assure you all that, with this visit, I am determined more than ever before to march on. We have laid our hands on the plough and there is no going back. We are in this together. We will get there together and we will be happy together,” Jegede assured.
