Update: Trial Of Kanu, Igboho Resume Today. DSS Approves Only 10 Media Houses To Cover Kanu’s Trial

The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu will resume today Monday July 26, barring any hitch.

The Precision NG reports that Kanu was returned to Nigeria on Sunday, June 27 and brought before the Court on Tuesday, June 29 after he was arrested by the Interpol in Kenya.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court had ruled then that Kanu should be remanded in the DSS custody until Monday July 26 for continuation of trial.

This is the second time Kanu would be facing trial. He was once granted bail by the Court but Kanu jumped bail and ran to overseas, where he continued to champion his agitations that Igbo people in Nigeria should have their own country.

Upon his second return to Court after his extradition from Kenya, the Judge asked Kanu why he jumped bail in the first instance. He told the Court that he feared he would be killed by the Government.

Meanwhile, as the trial resume on Monday, the DSS have approved only 10 media houses in the country for coverage. Below is the list:

In a similar development, the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho who was nabbed in Benin Republic would continue his trial on Monday.

The Court had released his wife, Ropo last week Thursday, July 22, at the resumption of Sunday Igboho’s trial.

Meanwhile, traditional rulers in southwest Nigeria like the Olubadan of Ibadan have sent a delegation to Benin Republic. Benin whose capital is Cotonou has a large number of Yoruba ethnic group even though it is French speaking country.
