2019: Ahmed Musa Returns To APC

Ahmed Musa Ibeto, Nigeria’s former Ambassador to South Africa, who defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the party governorship primaries a few months ago has returned back to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Musa Ibeto who was Deputy former Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu led PDP administration in the state for eight years but defected to the APC after he failed to clinch the party’s ticket in the build-up to the 2015 general elections.

Ibeto who was believed to be instrumental to ruling party’s victory in Niger state in 2015, was rewarded with Ambassadorial appointment by President Mohammedu Buhari in 2017, a position he resigned in August last year and returned back to PDP.

The former Nigeria’s Envoy to South Africa had told the large crowd at his home town, shortly after obtaining PDP card No 023 at Ibeto ward five months ago that he was bringing his wealth of experience to bear in the party and development of the state again contested the governorship primaries and lost.

Ibeto and three others; Mohammed Aminu Baka, Hannafi Sudan, Isah Ahmed (Dogon-Koli) received back to the APC fold after contesting and losing the primaries to the former Commissioner and Chief of Staff in the state, Alhaji Muhammad Umar Nasko.

Other prominent PDP members that dumped the Umbrella for the Broom political party symbol are; former state party Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Enagi, former Treasurer, Alhaji Buhari Ibeto and the former Minister of Sports, Sani Ndanusa.

The APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who received the decampees described them ad, ‘Special decampees’ who decided to join the APC family because of the achievements of President Buhari and Sani Bello at federal and state level.
