Intensify Efforts To Achieve Quality Public Service – Aragbaiye Tells Change Ambassadors

The Ondo State Head of Service (HoS), Mr Dare Aragbaiye, has charged the Change Ambassadors of the Ondo Service Improvement Programme ‘ODSIP’ to be steadfast and continue to give the Public Service Reform Office the needed support in the strive to improving the State Public Service.

Mr Aragbaiye gave the charge during the second quarter interactive meeting with the Change Ambassadors held at the State Information Technology Agency, Akure,.

Williams Oni, Media Manager, Office of the HoS in a statement on Wednesday quoted Mr Aragbaiye as saying that the ODSIP program is to enhance the values upon which the State Public Service was founded and the pathways to what it would become in line with the global trend, adding that, in this challenging times there is the need to take the tenets of the program more seriously.

He noted that the purpose of the Public Service is to identify problems areas, diagnose possible causes, treat and solve them with innovative ideas, and deliver a quality Public Service worthy of its name in all facets.

The number one Public Servant in the state, cautioned Civil Servants at these electioneering times against involving in political partisanship either in words or actions in line with the policy statement of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Head of Service, who acknowledged the havoc Covid-19 has caused globally, implored Public Servants to take the precautionary measures required for safety, such as; regular washing of hands, social and physical distancing and usage of hand sanitizers and usage of nose masks to reduce the chances of contracting coronavirus in the state.

In his welcome remarks, the Administrative Secretary of the Reform Office, Mr Gbenga Akingbasote, commended the Head of Service for his leadership qualities exemplified by initiating the Reform of the state civil service leading to the launch of the Ondo Service Improvement Programme by the State Governor in December, 2019, which according to him has yielded tremendous Breakthroughs in many areas, including ameliorating the processing of Retirement benefits of potential Pensioners in the state Public Service, production and launch of ODSIP Newsletter, regular online chat with the Head of Service and training on Mindset of public Servants in the state.

Mr Akingbasote noted that though the COVID-19 infection is still on the increase, the business of good governance must not be allowed to suffer and, therefore enjoined the Change Ambassadors to encourage all Public Servants to observe all safety protocols prescribed by government and the World Health Organization in order to curtail the spread of the pandemic.

He further stated that the launch of ODSIP had established a structure of what the Change Ambassadors Initiative is and the role it plays in the overall delivery of good governance in the state, as well as entrenched the tenets of ODSIP in the fabrics of Ondo State Public Service, saying that ODSIP was designed to ensure a continuous bureaucratic improvement for quality service delivery to the people of the state.

In attendance at the interactive meeting were the Permanent Secretaries, Pension Transitional Department, Mr Tope Kolawole and Service Matters Department, Mr Bayo Philip among others.
