The Executive Director, Peace, Unity and Youth Development Initiative (PUYOD Initiative), Mr. Bode Famose, has called on political party leaders in Ondo State to use the opportunity of the current political situation in the State to engage in issue- based campaign.
Speaking at a Forum organised by PUYOD Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, in Igbara Oke, Ifedore LGA on Sunday, Mr. Famose stated that it was only through issues based campaigns that the voters can be effectively guided to exercise their franchise in an informed manner in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.
He underscored the importance of an informed electorate in a free and fair election, adding that all political parties should commit themselves to undertake as a worth contribution to the development of democracy in Ondo State.

Mr. Famose, who was the immediate past Director of the National Orientation Agency in the State, appealed to political leaders to refrain from issuing inflammatory statements which might ignite violence, while urging the youths in the state to avoid being used as political thugs before and during the October 10, 2020 gubernatorial election.
Speaking at the Forum, the Olowa of Igbara Oke, HRM. Oba Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede called for peace in the State during the election while commending the NGO for the efforts. He urged other groups to emulate this.
The NGO Forum, which was held at the Palace of the Olowa of Igbara Oke on Sunday, September 27, 2020 was attended by all the major stakeholders in the Local Government including representatives of the APC, PDP, ZLP as well as the SDP.
The Forum was addressed by the INEC Electoral officer, the Community and Mobilisation officer of the National Orientation Agency, as well as the NSCDC Officer in the Local Government.
Some of the Stakeholders who attended the meeting include the CAN Chairman Igbara Oke, Rev Fr Lawrence Aina, Ven Solomon Amure, the Vicar in charge of St Paul’s Anglican Church Igbara Oke and Pastor Ade Arowosegbe. The Iyaloja representatives in attendance were Janet Akande, Rachel and Olanike Odebiyi.
Some of the Oloriomos present were Chief Segun Ogunlusi, Chief R A Ajayi, Idowu Akereja and Sehinde Egbeyemi.
Chief J. S. Ilori led APC members to the forum, while PDP was represented by Tope Water and Pastor Ilesanmi Yisa. Akinlolu Babatunde and Wole Oluwafemi represented ZLP while Dele Olowo-Eko Chairman SDP Igbara Oke Ward 1 was in attendance withsome of his members.
The meeting unanimously commended INEC Performance in the Edo 2020 governorship election and prayed that the Election Management Body should maintain the standard in Ondo 2020 governorship election
