NANNM mourns Ex-Ondo Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Ajironike Ojo, says she served without Blemish
The Ondo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) led by the Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Olomiye has condoled the family and colleagues of its late member and former Ondo state Chief Nursing officer, MRS. COMFORT AJIRONIKE OJO (NEE OMOLE) who passed on at the age of 77.
The Union said the late Chief Nursing Officer of the state served the state at different hospitals without any blemish and she entrenched impactful legacy in the Nursing profession.
In a condolence message, Comrade Olomiye noted that the family members and colleagues would be comforted by Mrs Comfort Ajironike Ojo, huge contributions to the Ondo state health sector as one of the first set of Nurses in the state who trained young ones to greatness.
The NANNM Chairman said her death on 3rd February, 2021 was shocking.
Comrade Olomiye described her as a devoted Christian and dedicated Chief Nursing officer whose her caring and competent attributes could not be easily surpassed.
Olomiye said, “Ondo state chapter of NANNM on behalf of all Nurses and Midwives condoles especially with her family members and assures them that Mrs Ajironike Ojo’s legacies would never be eroded in the profession in many years to come.
According to funeral arrangements for Mrs Ajironike Ojo, Christian wake holds on Thursday 25th March, 2021 at her residence, Plot 8&9, Block 3 Origbose Street, Behind RCCG Abundance Life Parish, Powerline, Ijoka Akure in Ondo state at 5:00pm.
Burial outing service holds on Friday 26th March, 2021 at St Thomas’s Anglican Church, Isikan Akure at 10:00am while interment follows immediately at the church’s Cementery, Ondo Road, Akure.
Mrs Ajironike Ojo is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren.
WHO IS MRS. COMFORT AJIRONIKE OJO (NEE OMOLE)
Mrs. Comfort Ajironike Ojo (Nee Omole) was born at Ile Olotokorojo, Ipoti Ekiti on the 23rd November, 1943 to the family of Pa Vincent Dada Omole and Madam Oni Omole, both of blessed memory. She was the only female and last born of her family.
Her Education: She started her elementary education at the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, Ipoti Ekiti from 1953- 1961. She later went to Secondary Modern school, Ipoti- Ekiti between 1961- 1963. She obtained her modern three leaving certificate in 1963. She proceeded to the School of Nursing at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Ile- Ife (now Osun State) from 1965- 1968 where she obtained her NRN (Nigerian Registered Nurse).
Between 1971, she further went to the School of Midwifery at Ijebu- Ode General Hospital in the Old Western Region, there she obtained her NRM (Nigeria Registered Midwife) and became a dual qualified Nurse, SNIM (Staff Nurse Midwife). She attended a workshop on nursery process at the UCH, Ibadan in 1990.
From 1992- 1993, she gained admission into the University of Benin for a Diploma degree in Nursing Administration and Management.
Mummy attended various seminars and workshops on complete breast feeding and family planning for nursing mothers.
She got married to her lover and caring husband, Samuel Oladimeji Ojo on the 24th October, 1970. The union is blessed with promising, responsible, dependable and caring great men and women; Oladapo, Oluwatoyin, Ayodeji, Olusola, Taiwo, Kehinde and Oluranti.
She was employed into the civil service of the Old Western Region and worked in various hospitals:
1969- 1971: Registered Nurse, Ondo General Hospital; 1971- 1972: Pupil Midwife, General Hospital Ijebu- Ode; 1973- 1974: Staff Nurse Midwife, Ijero- Ekiti General Hospital
1975- 1981: Nursing Sister, Akure Specialist Hospital; 1982- 1984: Specialist Senior Nursing Sister, Akure Specialist Hospital; 1984: Senior Nursing Sister, General Hospital, Ido- Ekiti; 1985- 1988: Matron, General Hospital, Ondo; 1988- 1992: Senior Matron, State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
1995- 2004: Chief Nursing Officer, State Specialist Hospital, Akure; 2000- 2004: The Chief Nursing Officer in charge of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State and Mummy retired from the service after 35 years of meritorious service. She served both the federal and state government without any blemish.
Her Christian Life: By birth, mummy was a committed member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her father was a devoted Christian and an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was baptized in 1960. Mummy became an Anglican by marriage in 1970.
She was confirmed on the 10th of July, 1983 by the Reverend Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi who was the Bishop of Akure Diocese when Ven. M. D. Dare was the Vicar in charge of St. Thomas’s Anglican Church, Isinkan, Akure. She belongs to various groups serving God in his vineyard.

Finally, we are grateful to God for the seventy seven purposeful years of service and meaning that mummy lived while on earth. In fact, she served God till the end.
Take your deserved rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ and keep singing until we see again. What a peaceful and gentle soul! Our loss is Heaven’s Gain!
