Muslims in Nigeria would be celebrating Tuesday, 10th August, 2021 as new Islamic year – 1443.
This is contained in a statement by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), which was signed by Architect Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu, Director of Administration of the organization.

“His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, after considering the report of the National Moon Sighting Committee, has declared Tuesday, 10th of August, 2021 as the 1st day of Muharram, 1443 AH.
“His Eminence, the President General wishes all Muslims a happy new Hijri year,” the statement read.
