FUTA Appoints Anifowose As Dean, School Of Earth & Mineral Sciences

The Management of the Federal University of Technology Akure has appointed Yekini Adeleye Anifowose, a Professor of Applied Geology, Dean School of Earth and Mineral Sciences (SEMS) effective August 2021.

He had earlier been elected into the position by the Board of Studies of the School.


Anifowose, an alumnus of University of Ibadan, joined the services of the institution in October 1986 as a graduate assistant in the Department of Applied Geology and rose to the Professorial Cadre on the 1st of October 2015.


Anifowose, who has supervised 19 postgraduates’ dissertations, is a distinguished scholar of repute with over 33 articles published in reputable journals to his credit.

He has also served as External assessor, Nigerian Defense Academy Kaduna April 2019, External Assessor Federal University of Technology Owerri, October 2019 , Member, Panel of Assessors for accreditation, University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa Ghana, Member Federal Ministry of Environment, panel for the review of the EIA of the proposed Escravos-Lagos pipeline phase 2 system prepared by Nigerian National Petroleum corporation (NNPC).

He has also served as member, National Universities Commission accreditation team to Gregory University, Uturu Abia state; University of Calabar, Cross River State; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Kaduna and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Bauchi state.


It is believed that his wealth of experience will in no small measure contribute to the growth and development of the School of Earth and Mineral Sciences under his watch.
