The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ondo State Council has received with rude shock and disbelief a report of unknown Hoodlums who attacked and burgled the apartment of its member, Tosin Ajuwon, and carted away valuable properties.
Ajuwon who is also the Secretary of NUJ Correspondents Chapel, had narrated to the Union of how the hoodlums broke into the building located at Irese community, around Akure, the state capital through the window, and made away with two set of television including vital documents.
The Chairman of the Union, Adetona Aderoboye and Secretary, Leke Adegbite in a statement on Tuesday called for thorough investigation by the Nigeria Police, DSS and other security operatives to ascertain those who perpetrated the evil act.
“Ondo NUJ is more disturbed with the incident in view of recent disappearance of a Vanguard journalist in Abuja and several others attacked across the country.”

While NUJ sympathised with Ajuwon, it also advised security operatives to beef up security around the journalist and other media professionals in the state to prevent any sad happening.
Ondo NUJ shall work closely with men of Nigeria Police to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on Ajuwon without unnecessary delay.
It would be recalled that the burglars penetrated the house when Ajuwon and members of his family had left the house on Monday.
The incident would be the second time that unknown persons would break into the apartment stealing valuable properties of the same journalist.
Speaking on Tuesday, Mr. Ajuwon described the burglary incident as very shocking, frightened and a direct attack.
He explained that the hoodlums came into the apartment through the backyard after breaking the burglary window.
“It is the most shocking incident because the burglars came into the apartment when we have left the house for work which shows that they must have been monitoring our movement. They came in through the backyard where they damaged the burglary proof and entered through the widow.
“The ransacked the whole room, scattered some of my documents in a most frightened way. In fact, it’s direct attack. They stole two television sets (a 55 inches Hisense Curve tv and an LG 32 inches tv) while they also took away some vital documents.
“We have reported the case to the police in the Ijare Division and they have promised to ensure that they identified those who have perpetrated the evil act. I trust that the police would surely go after them,” Ajuwon added.
Meanwhile, the PDP in Ondo State has condemned the attack on the residence of Tosin Ajuwon, a journalist based in the State.
“The broad day light’s attack on the residence of the Daily Times Correspondent, Tosin Ajuwon at Irese, Ifedore Local Government Area by hoodlums, is barbaric and condemnable.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State Chapter, calls on the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command , Mr. Bolaji Salami, to help fish out those behind this dastardly act and bring them to book.
“Members of the fourth estate of the realm and indeed citizens, should be able to go about their lawful duties without being attacked and traumatized in this senseless manner,” Kennedy Peretei, State Publicity Secretary of the party said.
