Hon. Abiola Makinde Enrols Over 700 Constituents Into National Health Insurance Scheme

Member House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Abiola Peter Makinde, representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency, has enrolled 700 of his constituents into the National Health Insurance Scheme.

This is contained in a news release by Alli Moshood Abiodun, Special Adviser to Hon Makinde on Media & Publicity, in a statement at the weekend.

The event held on Friday, at Oba Adesanoye Civic Centre which attracted high profile personalities, constituents and health professionals.

The Insurance Scheme, under the National Health Insurance Authority, aims at providing access to quality healthcare to the enrolled constituents at no cost.

This scheme covers healthcare relating to outpatient care, preventive care, dental care, annual checkups, hospital care up to 21 days in a year, maternity care throughout all stages of pregnancy which also applies to stillbirths and premature childbirth, eye care, prosthesis, specialist consultations, prescribed medicine and diagnostic tests, emergency first aid amongst others.

Hon Makinde while speaking encouraged his constituents to take advantage of this initiative. While also reiterating his concerted efforts towards improving the general health and healthcare provisions for his constituents with health, being a major component of his WEALTH campaign mantra meaning; Water, Education, Agriculture, Light, Training and Health.

The HOR member who also doubles as Deputy-Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, in partnership with his wife, Dr Rhoda Makinde’s NGO, DROMI, have been providing monthly medical interventions in selected communities for over 7 years, hosted medical outreaches and also held “Kaso Layo”, a program meant to cater for the medical needs of pregnant women in the constituency.

Leading the NHIS team, Dr Kapoona Iwara Ibiang Eteng; Deputy General Manager, Formal Sector Department National Health Insurance Authority, encouraged members of the public to use the opportunity to access healthcare provided by the Federal Government and also enlightened them on how it can be accessed, duration and also NHIS accredited hospitals that they can visit in their locality.
