…says party leadership should respect stakeholders decision
The Senator representing Ondo North District, Senator Jide Ipinsagba has rejected the names of Nominees as Interim Management Committee members for Akoko North East Local Government Area.
Senator Ipinsagba in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, said the list was contrary to the agreed nominations by the stakeholders from the local government area.
He stated that a list jointly prepared by leaders of the local government was submitted to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON which he graciously approved.
“To my utter chagrin, the list was replaced with a purported list prepared and sponsored by someone outside the local government”.
“What audacity! This is not only an affront on us as leaders but an insult and disrespect to the persons and offices of Mr. Governor and my humble self as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic”.
“Let me reiterate this that decision and announcement stands rejected by me as the leader of my local government. We will not accept any names aside the ones already submitted to Mr. Governor. “
He called on the party leadership at the State level to avoid creating unnecessary crisis in the focal government area.
The development followed the approval of Interim Management Committee list for Akoko North East Local Government by the Ondo State House of Assembly that was compromised to favour the interests of a high ranking federal government official who is not from the local government area.
Senator Ipinsagba emphasized that the people’s will should be respected and be allowed to supercede personal interests.
