Ondo: PSTI Trains Teachers On Artificial Intelligence

The Ondo State Public Service Training Institute, Ilara-Mokin in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, after it’s flag off training of no fewer than 1,000 Teachers on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Ondo State has moved to the southern senatorial district of the state to train teachers on artificial intelligence.

This development is part of the SEEDS agenda of the State Governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The programme is designed to train teachers in
the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications as tools in transforming the education sector. The teachers as critical stakeholders need to leverage AI tools to enhance their teaching skills and improve students’ learning outcomes.

Speaking with newsmen in Okitipupa, the Permanent Secretary/Director General of the Institute, Dr. Olumide Asere, who was represented by the Registrar of the Institute, Mr. Adeyemo Sheriff, at the training venue, said the training programme was essential for teachers in Ondo State as the workforce should not be left behind in this digital age.

He stressed further that AI would improve teachers’ productivity, personalized learning, and critical thinking. According to him, this has become an integral part of every aspect of human lives, including education, which forms one of the pillars of economic development.

He emphasized AI revolutionary impact on education by making learning more engaging, interactive, and effective.

One of the participants, Mrs. Macaulay Glory from Ilaje Local government, spoke with news men at the venue, thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the PSTI Management for this initiative that was brought to their doorsteps.

Mr. David from Odigbo Local government also thanked the governor and the management of the PSTI as he testified that the programme has enlightened them and have the potential to make them more efficient, effective and updated in their chosen career with the use of AI technology.

Mr. Adebayo Sunday from Okitipupa Local Government on his own path thanked Mr. Governor for this initiative. He opined that these innovative applications of AI in education will create a more inclusive, effective, and fulfilling learning environment for both teachers and students.
