Upon assumption of office on Tuesday, the new Commissioner of Police, Ondo State, CP Wilfred Afolabi, has paid an unscheduled visit to Owo, to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the recent cult-related clashes that claimed four lives.
SP Funmilayo Odunlami, Police Public Relations Officer in a press release obtained by Precision Online Newspaper, disclosed that the new CP during the assessment, pledged to make combating crime and social vices in the state a top priority.
The police spokesperson in the statement confirmed that 19 suspects have been arrested in connection with the crisis.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in the incident,” the statement noted.
Meanwhile, CP Afolabi has issued a stern warning to miscreants and potential criminals to stay away from the state, emphasizing the command’s resolve to rid Ondo State of all forms of crime and criminality.
