Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has said his friendship with the former governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko doesn’t involve his political interest, especially on the Central Senatorial district election.

Akeredolu was reacting to rumours making the round that he was supporting the senatorial aspiration of the former governor against his party’s candidate, Tayo Alasoadura.

Speaking at a mega rally organised for President Muhammadu Buhari and APC candidates in the central senatorial district of the state, Akeredolu said he can never support the aspiration of a man whose body language suggested that there is no quality person in the state to aspire for political offices except him.

He said “He was commissioner, he was SSG, he served as minister in Abuja and then, he was governor for Eight years. Now, he wants to become a Senator. Is there no other person who can be a Senator in Ondo Central except him?

“Our attention has been brought to his lies that I was the one who asked him to come out and contest for Senate. That’s a blatant lie. We have only one candidate and he’s Donald Tayo Alasoadura

“How can I leave a man who stood by us after the primary that brought me in, he stood behind me. I am fully with Alasoadura. I stand with Alasoadura. If Mimiko wants to join our party, he should come, we may take him in, but he will have to cool down and allow Alash to go for another term

“I am not saying he’s not my friend, but our friendship doesn’t get to this level. This is about interest and politics. Alasoadura is our candidate. He’s the one we know. Please, do not be deceived.”
