It was a celebration of academic excellence with full pump and pageantry as Achievers University, Owo in Ondo state on Wednesday performed her induction and Oath taking ceremony of its 45 qualified Medical laboratory scientists.

The event which was the eighth edition since the inception of the institution, was graced by Hon. Dr Bode Ayorinde, Pro Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council; Prof (Engr) Tunji Samuel Ibiyemi, Vice-Chancellor of the University; Dr. A. O Hassan, Head, Department of Medical Laboratory Science among others.

While Delivering a Lecture titled “Opportunities for Medical laboratory Professionals in the 21st century”, PROFESSOR MAISIE H. ETUKUDO, PROFESSOR OF CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE, emphasized the importance of Medical Laboratory Science in any society.

“Medical Laboratory Professionals are those who have been trained and have acquired the necessary analytical skills to work in the laboratory, whether such laboratories are hospital based, research laboratories or non clinical laboratories”

“This Lecture, therefore is to equip us with information on the chances for employment /career progression that are open to Medical Laboratory Science professional graduation in the 21st century”

“It is interesting to note that already, the motto of Achievers University has incorporated the values that graduates today will require to be relevant in the 21st century in its motto: Knowledge, integrity and Leadership”

“As graduates of Medical Laboratory Science, if you desire to progress and to go far in life and utilize the vast opportunities that are open to you”

“As you leave this arena, the motto of your alma mater must form part of your guiding principles in life”

In his closing remark, the Pro- Chancellor, Dr Bode Ayorinde who thanked God for making the event a successful one, described it as another step towards fulfilling the lofty vision of setting up the University.

Dr Ayorinde urged the inductees to make integrity their watchword and pursue their careers with integrity and excellence.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi said the university was one of the best in the academic discipline.

The VC said, “I am delighted to witness the eighth induction, Achiever University is the second in the south west to run the program, in terms of courses, performance. We are not far from the first, if not the first not only south west but Nigeria as a whole.”

In his opening address, Head of Department of Medical Laboratory Science congratulated the the founder of the institution for his unwavering support for the Medical Laboratory Science Programme.

The HOD said, “I am immensely grateful to the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria and Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria for their efforts aimed at bringing new innovations with respect to qualitative training of Medical Laboratory Science in Nigeria Universities”

The occasion was graced with presentation of Award to the Best Inductees and Best Behaved inductee among the 45 of them inducted by one of the fastest growing university in the country.
