No fewer than 300 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Action Alliance (AA) in Akoko Southwest and Southeast local governments of Ondo state have dumped their parties for the All Progressive Congress (APC)
The defection was made public at the Campaign flag off ceremony of the (APC) candidate for Akoko Southwest/southeast Federal constituency, Hon. Ade Adeogun, held in Oka Akoko on Saturday.
A former commissioner for women affairs in Ondo state, Honourable Yinka Alabi, who led the defectors expressed her satisfaction in the candidate, while describing the candidate as the best among all with the highest prospect of providing good leadership in representation.
“Ade Adeogun is a brand that we need, someone who can be innovative, creative and bring in new things to the federal constituency, hence my decision to join force with him in the election. Our people also need to collect their PVCs and use it wisely during the elections”
Former deputy governor of Ondo state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi who received the decampees, said they decamped to the ruling APC because of their Interest in the mandate of Ade Adeogun.
“On behalf of the party’s National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, I welcome you to the ruling part, APC will always give you equal treatment with other members”. He said.
He also added that Hon Ade Adeogun is a worthy candidate to represent the people of Akoko Southwest/ southeast at the federal level.
Meanwhile, the APC Candidate, Hon. Ade Adeogun commended the decampees for their decision, while also assuring them of Quality representation.
The Candidate urged members of the constituency to choose wisely by voting in representatives who will make the overall welfare of the constituency a priority.
He assured the people of qualitative representation with regards to providing employment opportunities and creating more access roads to facilitate speedy development of the area among.
“We believe that when we get to Abuja, we will make all necessary arrangements in addressing our economic inadequacies by focusing on small scale enterprises”
“Look at our roads, there has not being a federal project in Akoko for about 10 years, we are going there to tell them that Akoko exists”.
“I have a clear agenda of dealing with economic activities, we need to create enabling environment to achieve our desires”.
He also mention that his campaign is about having one on one contact with residents of the area through the door to door sensitization programs which will last for a month.
Senator Ajayi Borofice, represented by Barrister Tolu Babaleye urged those present at the ceremony and the entire constituents to vote en mass for the ruling party for continued progress in the constituency.
Other APC chieftains at the event, including women leaders and the host council’s APC chairman all described Adeogun as a calm, receptive and caring leader. While assuring of massive votes for him the in 2019 general elections.
