Ondo: Mrs Akeredolu Inaugurates Cancer Diagnostic Equipment

Wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has commissioned a Cancer Diagnostic Equipment donated to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo by Bio-Ventures for Global Health.

Commissioning the Histopathology Laboratory and the equipment, the Wife of the Governor who thanked the government for supporting BRECAN and the donor observed that the equipment will mostly benefit Ondo State residents, towards ensuring better cancer diagnosis and people’s access to good health care.

She noted that fighting cancer is not only about spreading awareness as it requires raising funds to save the lives of people living with cancer, while assuring that the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) will continue to collaborate with bodies and stakeholders on promoting awareness, care and treatment for people living with the disease.

The 21 years Breast Cancer Survivor further called on the people to relentlessly support BRECAN, saying the organization is lucky to have international organizations having interest in its activities.

According to her the support of the well known bodies has assisted BRECAN in doing more for the people, stressing that the crowdfunding initiative of BRECAN has helped in the payment of the treatment of many cancer patients within and outside the State.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Dr. Liasu Adeagbo Ahmed, said the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria facilitated the donation of the Cancer Diagnostic Equipment to the hospital. He appreciated the support of BRECAN to the health institution and its patients, particularly in the area of care and treatment of cancer patients.

He noted that the hospital is still in its expansion stage and there is need for more equipment to complement staff efforts and support experts care to the patients.

The wife of the Governor also visited FMC baby of the year who was delivered at 11.50am on Monday and presented gifts and cash to the mother and other babies in the hospital.
