A Chief Magistrate court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has remanded five persons in police custody for alleged involvement in the bank robbery that occurred in Idoani, Ondo State two weeks ago during which seven persons were shot dead.
The five suspects were arraigned on a seven-count charge by the Ondo state police command, with one other suspect at large.
Those arraigned on Thursday are Isiah Yusuf, Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi, Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, and Peter Ufomadu.
Chief Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel after listening to arguments from both the prosecuting and defence counsels remanded the suspects in the police custody till 2nd of May, 2019, pending the advice from the office of State Director of Public Prosecution.

A charge sheet signed by Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Olawoye Ezekiel, states that the suspects committed the following offenses:
“Count 1: That you , Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi, Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter Ufomadu and others at large on the 8th day of April 2019 at about 2:30pm at First bank Plc Idoani did conspire together to commit felony and armed robbery and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 6a and b of the Robbery and Firearms Act cap RII laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
“Count 2: That you Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi, Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter Ufomadu and others at large, on the same day, date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did conspire together to commit felony to wit murder contrary to and punishable under section 324 of the criminal code cap 37 vol.1 law of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
“Count 3: That you Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter Ufomadu and others at large,while armed with guns, charms, hijab, and other offensive weapons did attack and rob First bank Plc, Idoani, of unspecified amount of cash and other valuable items yet to be estimated and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 1 and 2, a and b of robbery firearms (Special provision) Act cap RII Law of Federation of Nigeria 2004
“Count 4: That you Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi, Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter ufomadu and others at large,while armed with guns , charms and other offensive weapons did kill Adewale Akinwale, Sunday Adeyemi, Bake Soga, Babson Basil, Ehinloju Rafiu, Olusola Olulore, and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316 (1) and punishable under section 319 criminal code cap 37 volume 1 law of Ondo state of Nigeria.
“Count 5: That you Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter ufomadu and others at large on the 19th April 2019 at about 2:00pm at Iro street , Akure in the Akure magisterial district did conspire together to commit felony to wit Attempted robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 6 a and b of the robbery and firearms Act Cap RII law of federation of Nigeria.
“Count 6: That you Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi, Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter ufomadu amd others at large, on the same day , time and place in aforementioned magisterial district while armed with cit to size guns , two locally made pistols and other offensive weapons did attempt to rob one cocoa warehouse and therefore committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 6 a and b of the robbery and firearms Act Cap RII law of federation of Nigeria.
“Count 7: That you Isiah Yusuf , Joshua Egumah Abuse, Iris Alli Abdullahi, Philip Adeni, Odeh Friday Francis, Peter ufomadu and others at large on the same day , time and place in aforementioned magisterial district while armed with cit to size guns , which you cannot give satisfactory account of how you came about them and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under section 3 of the robbery and firearms”.
