As part of activities to mark the 5th Coronation Anniversary of the Alani of Ido-Ani, Oba Major General Olufemi Olutoye (Rtd), the Ondo State Government partnered his son, Professor Olayinka Olutoye on Medical Mission at Ido-Ani.

Since the ascension of his father to the throne of Ido -Ani five years ago, Professor Oluyinka Olutoye who was recently appointed Surgeon in Chief of United State’s Children Hospital, annually came with his team from the United States, on medical mission to Ido -Ani.

It will be recalled that his appointment as Surgeon in Chief, which brought glory and honour to Nigeria and consequently the entire black race ,was as a result of the success achieved in a surgery on a baby with tumour in uterine in a Texas hospital in 2016, in which this illustrious son of Ido -Ani was a part.

Professor Olutoye explained that he annually came to Ido -Ani with a non profit organisation called “Devine Benevolence” on a free Medical Mission as a way of giving back to the community that produced him.

He added that everyone has a role to play to make Nigeria a better place ,hence he is doing that which is ,his bit for his place of birth , Ido-Ani.

Professor Olutoye was happy and placed on record his indebtedness to the Ondo State Medical Team for partnering him to give back to his community.

Dr. Francis Akanbiemu, the Executive Secretary of the Ondo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency who led the State Government team explained that he decided to partner the Pediatric Surgeon on the medical mission ,first, because he is a son of Ido-Ani and a way of felicitating and thanking God with the monarch.

Dr Akanbiemu opined that the medical mission was a huge success ,as there was a massive turn out and the State team attended to more than 300 people who needed medical attention for ailments ranging from Malaria, Athrittis, Diabetes and hypertension among others.

Children, Pregnant Women and accident victims were not left out as they were taken care of and given free drugs, even as there was health talk on various topics.

Family Planning services were rendered and commodities were given free to the people.

Dr Akanbiemu explained that this free medical mission will also be extended to other communities across the three senatorial districts as a way of bringing health services to the door steps of people in hard to reach areas of the State, as it is already embedded in its Integrated Community Outreach Programme.

The Alani who expressed delight at the success of the free medical mission, said it is the right way to go as everyone has his /her bit to contribute as a service to humanity and a way of making Nigeria a better place.

Major General Olutoye (Rtd) added that everyone has been given the opportunity to serve in one capacity or the other and those that do not do it and do it well, always have themselves to blame ,hence, his, has been a life of service from youth to old age.

Otunba Kofoworola Ahmed, the Mayegun of Ido-Ani, Chief( mrs) Elizabeth Akindayo and Mrs Osas Funmilayo who were among beneficiaries, were all very happy that the medical mission was carried out as they see it as a time to receive free treatment and drugs annually.

The spiritual, was not left out as some Pastors who were part of the Divine Benevolence team, counseled and prayed for those who came to see the medical team.
