The Ondo State House of Assembly has ordered a reduction in the ongoing recruitment fees in the state-owned Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC).
To this end, the House Committee on Information led by the Chairman, Hon Olugbenga Omole directed the Chairman of OSRC and Orange FM, Kunle Adebayo to furnish it with details of its proposed recruitment exercise.
The OSRC Chairman and the Management team were summoned to a meeting on Monday with the House Committee following public outcry on the recruitment cost.
At the meeting, lawmakers noted that the Three Thousand Naira (#3000) charged as recruitment cost is on the high side and should be reduced to One Thousand Naira (#1000) in order to reduce the burden on job seekers.
They added that recruitment is a component of strategic planning hence should be a product of a budgetary provision.
The Assembly advised the Chairman and Management team of OSRC to be wary of the public procurement act while hiring consultants whether corporate bodies or individuals.
Members noted that the One Thousand Naira (#1000) recruitment cost was allowed in view of the fact that OSRC as a broadcasting institution does not take subventions from government.
In his response, Chairman of OSRC Management Committee, Mr Kunle Adebayo noted that professional expertise will be prioritised during the recruitment exercise.
Mr Adebayo noted that resolution of the committee to reduce the amount to 1000 naira is to further strengthen the recruitment process and also meet the yearnings of the people.
He assured of his resolve to continue to partner with the 9th assembly to make known to the public its activities.
While thanking the lawmakers for their observations, Mr Adebayo promised not to do anything that would jeopardize the interest of government and people of Ondo State.
Other honorable members in attendance include: Honourables Toluwani Borokini (Vice- Chairman), Prince Abayomi Akinruntan, Samuel Ademola, Akintomide Akinrogunde , Felemu GudBankole, Tomomewo Favour, Ogunmasuyi Oluwole, Rasheed Elegbeleye and Taofik Mohammad Oladele
