The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Ondo State Chapter, is saddened to announce the passing away of its former President, Sir Chief Alex Akinyele, who died on the night of 14th November, 2019, at the age of 81, after a brief illness.

In a statement jointly signed by its state chairman and secretary, Messrs Lamidi Ishola and Sunday Omosule, the chapter described the late Chief Akinyele as a patriot, a great communicator and a professional to the core who played an outstanding role in the development of his father’s land as a trained teacher, in the Nigeria Customs and Excise and later as an accomplished industrialist.

Of significance is that he played a remarkable role in the pioneering and nurturing of an enduring Nigerian Institute of Public Relations both at the state and national levels.

The statement described the late Lobosin of Ondo Kingdom as impressario extraordinaire and a man of sartorial elegance who lived an exemplary life of honour and service to his country as a Minister of Information, Chairman, National Sports Commission and National Reconciliation Commission.

The chapter commiserates with the family of the former PR guru, NIPR family and friends urging them to take solace in the fact that the former colorful Minister lived a life worthy of note and emulation by all and sundry.
