The chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming local government election in Ondo state, Engr. Alex Oladimeji has brought succour to his people by distributing foodstuffs to them as palliative for the ongoing stay at home to prevent further spread of deadly coronavirus.
The immediate past Caretaker Chairman of the local government also shared other household materials like detergents to the vulnerable people in addition to foodstuffs like rice, semovita and beans.
Distributing the food items to the people across the 10 political wards in Ifedore yesterday, Engr Alex Oladimeji noted that the gesture was a deliberate efforts to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home directive occasioned by the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
Beneficiaries of the food items were the vulnerable and the less privileged including aged men and women, widows and other people who were mostly affected by the socio-economic impacts of the lockdown caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
The gesture is coming less than 10 days the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Ifedore State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, distributed food items to the constituents to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home directive to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

“I deem it fit to come to the aid of my people at this trying period when everybody was asked to stay at home to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
“I found it necessary to identify with them by giving them palliatives, the foodstuffs, to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home directive since they cannot go to work to get their daily meals.
The food items we are distributing may not be enough for all of them but we believe it will go a long way in addressing hunger as it will provide food on their tables.
“The palliatives we are distributing are for everybody regardless of their political affiliations. It is about giving our people hope. Coronavirus does not know political parties, and so what we are giving is for everybody, not only for APC members”, Oladimeji emphasised.
The APC Chairmanship candidate encouraged the people across the local government area to stay at home and stay safe by observing all preventive measures including regular hands washing, avoiding crowded areas, using sanitizers, maintaining social distancing and all other preventive measures put in place by government to prevent the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
“Coronavirus is real and does not have respect for anybody”, the APC chairmanship candidate added.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs. Musa Iyabo, Bola Taiwo, Alfa Muhammadu Bamisile, appreciated Oladimeji for the kind gesture which they said would go a long way in ameliorating their suffering.
According to the beneficiaries, Oladimeji, a former caretaker chairman of the council, has always been helpful and supportive to the people.
Also, a leader of the APC in the local government, Chief Kayode Omojokun, said Oladimeji has been responsible and responsive to the needs of the people of the council area, urging him to continue his good gestures.
