He said, “In support of the efforts of the State Government at containing the spread of the deadly virus, distinguished members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, resolved to proceed on a two-week recess on Thursday 19th March, 2020 as part of efforts to stem the tide. Among other reasons for the recess, is to afford Distinguished Honourable Members the opportunity to embark on sensitization and awareness campaign to their various constituencies on the need for their constituents to observe the prescribed precautionary measures as outlined by the Government.

“Since the country has generally not recorded much improvement on the existing situation, the Honourable House has resolved to further extend its current recess indefinitely, until an appreciable decline or total eradication of this pandemic is recorded in the country. Distinguished Honourable Members are therefore put on notice and will be communicated on the new resumption date in good time.

“The Ondo State House of Assembly also wishes to use this medium to advise all indigenes and residents of Ondo State to continue to fully cooperate with the State Government by abiding and complying with all prescribed health tips and precautionary steps as laid down by both the Government and the various Intervention Agencies in a bid to completely wipe out the virus and ensure a healthy and safe environment within a reasonable time frame,” the statement read.
