The official residence of the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, at Alagbaka in Akure, is currently surrounded by armed mobile policemen, The Precision NG learnt.

Members of the House of Assembly are currently holding their Parliamentary Meeting at the Speaker’s Lodge but were surprised to see themselves surrounded by armed mobile policemen.

The invasion of the Speaker’s Lodge by the police may be connected to the ongoing investigation into the alleged N4.3b secret account deal of the state government by the lawmakers.

There have been rumours that some members of the Assembly may be planning to move the motion for the impeachment of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu over the secret account deal but the Speaker at the weekend denied such plans.

TRACE magazine reported that the decision to send armed mobile policemen to the lawmakers’ meeting was made in an effort to whip the lawmakers into line and stop them from continuing with the secret account probe.

A source close to the workings in the house of assembly also confirmed to The Precision NG the development.

“I don’t know on the instruction of whom they are here”, the source said.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the house, Hon. Olugbenga Omole while reacting to the news debunked the claim, adding that such news was planted by fifth columnists in the party.

He said the present probe of the N4.3bn found in a secret doesn’t call for the impeachment of the governor.

Omole called on the public to disregard any insinuation that the house and the executive are at loggerheads.
