Security agents should not be encouraged to clampdown or intimidate citizens on account of their political party preferences.
These were the words of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar while reacting to the detainment of the deputy governor of Ondo state, Agboola Ajayi by the police.
Ajayi was detained for over four hours on Saturday night by the state commissioner of police, Bolaji Salami at the government house in Alagbaka, Akure following the decision of the deputy governor to defect to the PDP.
Meanwhile Alhaji Abubakar has congratulated the deputy governor on his defection to the PDP on Sunday.
“I welcome Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, to our great party
“Our repositioned party’s umbrella is big and sturdy enough to accommodate democrats desirous of an indeed people’s oriented change”, he said.
