A non governmental organization, Good Governance Movement (GGM) has endorsed Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has its preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the October governorship election in Ondo state.
The group made the unanimous decision at the state delegate meeting held in Akure, the state capital.
The Precision NG reports that the group had convened the meeting to access various aspirants under the APC and conclude on which candidate is best fit to give the people of the state a good governance.
While addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Director General of GGM, Prof. Simidele Odimayo said virtually all the aspirants that have shown interest to govern the state are good enough but the
incumbent Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu based on his performance in the last three years stand out among all the contestants.
“From our assessment we have seen that all the aspirants that have shown interest to govern the state, virtually all of them are good.
“We have also seen that the incumbent governor from all the assessments has also done very well. And we feel that by his performance, by physically looking at his performance he is still a good
candidate to be presented by the party.
“So we feel that APC as a party should stick with the the incumbent governor because looking at the various developmental projects embarked upon, he has performed very well.
“We are not saying that he is an angel but we are saying that looking at his performance in terms of making sure things move on in the state, he is a good candidate for the party. So we are endorsing
him”, Odimayo said.
Also speaking to journalist after the meeting, former member of Ondo state House of Assembly,
Hon. Olusegun Ajimotokin said GGM endorsed Akeredolu based on the various argument that was canvassed by all the participants present at the meeting, and was also based on the achievements of the governor.
“If ypu have a governor who has the interest of the people at heart, it is very easy to know. The
Industrial Hub in Ore is going to provide more employment drive. It is going to
take care of so many unemployed youths. The infrastructural development with the ongoing road construction is also going to ease the difficulty of market women, the farmers and all of that.
“So those were the arguments that were converse here and it was harmonized that he (Akeredolu) is good to go for second term and am sure by the time he gets there he will consolidate all of the beautiful projects he has started.
