The Network of Reproductive Health Journalists of Nigeria (NRHJN) has called on the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Police Command, Edo State Ministry of Justice and all relevant bodies to immediately fish out the killer of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa to ensure that justice prevails.
This, the organisation declared will also effect the full implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP) of 2015.

This was contained in a press statement by signed by the Edo State Coordinator Joy Olabisi Akpaida and made available to The Precision NG in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
It said the State has domesticated the the VAPP Act of 2015, in 2019 which it said has provided the state an appropriate machinery to prosecute the culprit of the dastardly act against Late Omozuwa.
The organisation considered the act of rape as a Gender Based Violence and Violation against the humanity and womanhood of Late Omozuwa affirming that no woman, girl or anyone for that matter, should suffer Sexual Violence or have their dignity violated by another without facing the legal implication and consequences as stipulated by Laws and Acts of Nigeria.
It called for an immediate fishing out the killers of Omozuwa and bring them to book under the full implementation of the VAPP Act.
It however commended the various public outcry for justice and support rendered to the Omozuwa’s family at their moment of grief.
The statement contained that the undergraduate, late Omozuwa until her untimely death was a promising young girl and an ideal role model in the Nigerian educational system studying in preparation for the ease of lockdown on Schools at a church Hall of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Ikpoba Hill, in Benin city.
Late Omozuwa was a 100Level Undergraduate Student, University of Benin who was attacked, raped and killed by unknown assailant in Benin cuty last Friday.
