The leading aspirant in the July 20th primary election of the APC in Ondo state, Chief Olayide Adelami has expressed optimism that Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will overcome the coronavirus infection having tested positive to the virus on the 30th June, 2020.

Adelami, in a statement signed by his media aide, Rahaman Yusuf, said he received the news of the governor’s result with a mixed feeling.

The former deputy clerk to the national assembly said “I am sad because I do not pray for anyone, not even any of my co-contestants for the ticket of our great party, the APC, in the July 20th primary election to test positive for the virus. However, the number of persons that have successfully recovered from the virus in the country gives me hope that Arakunrin Akeredolu will overcome the virus in no distant time.”

“My heart is with him and his family during this trying period as I shall continue to pray for his quick recovery and that of every other individual that have tested positive to the virus in our dear sunshine state and the country at large, and are still receiving treatments across the various isolation and designated treatment centers.

The governorship hopeful who called for caution amongst residents of the state said “Arakunrin Akeredolu’s positive result further shows the virus is really here with us in Ondo state and we should always follow all preventive measures as rolled out by the NCDC and government at all levels.”

He also advised the state government to double efforts in containing the spike in COVID-19 cases in the last few weeks as well as advocated better incentives for healthcare workers, particularly those at the frontlines.

“Once again, I wish Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu quickest recovery as he follows, strictly, medical advice while undergoing treatment” he added.
