Comrade Jairos Olarotimi Benjamin has emerged the Governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) after beating his sole challenger, Pastor Olusegun Esho.
With this development, the ZLP became the first political party to hold primaries to pick its candidate for the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo state.

The convention was held at the party’s secretariat in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Benjamin scored 65 votes out of 90 votes to defeat Esho who polled 20 votes. Five votes were declared invalid.
The exercise monitored by INEC officials was organized by Convention committee headed by Mr Eni Akinsola.
The convention was attended by a former Governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and the State Chairman of ZLP, Hon Joseph Akinlaja.
